Changing your answers on your application after it's turned in might sound like something that most insurance providers would not allow. However, this is simply not true. There may be many reasons for this and they can range all the way from not having the information at the time the application was submitted to your circumstances changing that quickly. Whatever that situation is, you will need to follow certain procedures in order for these answers to be used as an edited agreement. No matter which submission method you choose or that they offer, you do want to obtain a confirmation of the fact that the provider received that information. This means there will be less confusion to delay the completion of medical questionnaires and application processes.
One way that some insurance companies request you to send in changed answers is by filling out the form again. They will then be able to insert this into your application and then process it from there. However, if you filled out the entire application online, then you may need to redo it entirely. This is because when the electronic document is submitted, it's not separated by pages. It's just one bundle of your data that is sent like a zipped up package to the representatives. Usually, if you have already filled out the application once, then doing so again will only take half the time. You'll already be prepared for the questions and have the answers ready without having to look anything up. This is one benefit of having your medical record with you so you can refer back to it as needed. If there is a charge for you to receive this, it should be minimal and able to fit into your budget as needed.
If you filled out a paper application the first time, then perhaps you will only need to revise one or two pages. When this is done, you can either scan and email them back in, or send them back via certified mail. By doing this, you get a tracking number and confirmation of when the provider receives them so you know what to expect after this step. These kinds of questions are important so you're always in the loop and know when you should expect to get an approval. Depending on which provider you are dealing with, you might be able to access their website to get an updated status at any time. By logging in with your personal information, you can check up on this whenever it's convenient to keep it moving along smoothly, and keep them from waiting on you at any one point. If the delay is on their end, then at least you can't be penalized for it.
Again, be truthful during this process as well, so your revised answers are not going to cause you more problems. Even if it doesn't look great or you're not sure you will be approved, it will be much better to tell the truth now than get a policy and have it cancelled because you lied. Depending on what type of insurance you are purchasing, lying may prevent your beneficiaries from receiving the compensation they are expecting. The insurance companies are watching to see that changing your answers on your application after it's turned in is not something you're doing to scam them. They have ways to verify the data and if you're not open and above board, you can create a lot of problems for yourself at a later date.
