When it comes to taking advantage of this federally subsidized program, you have a lot of options to choose from. In our Medicare Part D learning center and Medicare Part D commonly asked questions, you can explore the basic types of prescription drug plans that you have available once you become eligible for Medicare. We encourage you to use our free resources to guide your search for an affordable plan that will help you lead an active, healthy life.
When you become eligible for Medicare, you can receive Medicare Part D benefits in one of two ways. A Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, or PDP, is administered through a private insurer or government organization. Through this plan, you will receive benefits to cover all or part of the cost of the therapeutic drugs listed in the insurance provider's formulary. You may also choose to join a Medicare Advantage Plan that includes Part D benefits.
These plans, also known as MAPDs, combine the hospital benefits you receive under Part A and the outpatient options you receive under Part B with prescription drug cover under Part D. Not all Medicare Advantage plans include Part D prescription drug benefits. In that case, you have the option to enroll in a PDP at an additional cost.
Through our learning center, we aim to make your search for affordable, comprehensive health care easier and more productive. We realize that while the medications you buy are essential for a healthy life, you also want to save money on your prescriptions and reduce the costs of medical insurance as much as possible. Take advantage of our free, comprehensive Medicare Part D resources to find the information you need to fill your prescriptions at a reasonable cost.
